![]() This song was recorded and released by Swedish. According to Michael Tretow, ABBA's long-time sound engineer, Fltskog sang her lead without the lights on. Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA wrote this song, which deals in part with his divorce from his bandmate Agnetha Fltskog. It was the last song that ABBA ever recorded together. The Day Before You Came Staff Writers AugThe Day Before You Came is the debut novel from longtime gay press contributor and former writer Alistair Sutton, who describes it as, A celebration of Sydney and gay life in the 1980s. In that sense, it's about the death of a life already. The song was recorded and mixed on August 20, 1982, with the working title of 'The Suffering Bird' featuring lead vocals by Agnetha Fltskog. Of course, the simple fact that it was the last song ABBA ever recorded is poignant enough. Having sat through several poetry classes at university I can tell you that you can throw several books at that one line alone and it will keep you busy for a while. Welcome to The Day Before, an open-world MMO survival set in a deadly, post-pandemic America overrun by flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars. "And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain" I find the second to last lyric the most poignant of all: It's funny how many good songs become really good poems when you remove the musical background not that they're not when you don't, it's just looking at it from a different perspective, a different context. I have always found the alternatively speculated meaning much more interesting that the lyrics are in fact about the last day in the life of the speaker before her death, and that the "you" in question is the Grim Reaper. This song is the tragedy of Benny's broken relationship and the birth of a new one. It is reported on the internet that Benny was having an affair with someone whom he later married while still having a relationship with Anni-Frida. Benny and Anni-Frida were a couple as were Bjorn and Agnetha. Traditionally supposed to be a song about the routine life of a woman before she met the love of her life, or alternatively, looking back at her life after her lover has left and gone. Benny and Bjorn were the song writers in this group. Purportedly the last song ABBA ever recorded, and legend has it that Agnetha sang the lyric track in the studio with the lights off everyone apparently knew "this was the end". Picking a favourite song is hard, but The Day Before You Came always just edges out above the others. It’s like: everything was fine until you came along. Sweden's greatest export filling the kombi as the Karoo whisked past outside. The lyric of ‘The Day Before You Came’ is about how the singer lived a life of predictable routine until ‘the day before you came’, but the song itself is very much in a minor key, suggesting that the arrival of ‘you’ upset the singer’s predictable life and threw it into emotional disarray. My first memories of the band date back to when I was about ten or eleven, going on holiday with my parents, two brothers and sister, driving up all the way to the Kruger National Park, with my dad periodically popping in their The Singles tape. ![]()
